Hosted by romance and erotica author, Angela Fattig. Authors invited to mingle with readers in this free-for-all event.
But here’s the real reason why I’m sharing this: Angela Fattig is currently running a campaign to help fight human trafficking. That dirty business that’s terrifying and disgustingly lucrative. And it’s everywhere, tucked away in dark corners, secret houses, and tiny rooms all over the world. This isn’t a “third world” problem. This is a world problem. Humans can be sold over and over and over again, doing things the rest of us don’t want to think of. It’s one of those things where anyone is fair game. Your friends. Your siblings. Your kids. Yourself.
And we don’t ever want to talk about it.
It’s one of those things that I came across in my 20s and it produced two major reactions: first, absolute disgust, even though I already knew humans are a pretty messed up species. Second, anger. This is one of those things that really pisses me off. Slavery will never die. Neither will greed and the hunger for more, more, MORE of power and control.
So, it’s no wonder I’ve taken an interest in Angela’s campaign. From her post on the event page, rallying us to help:
HUMAN TRAFFICKING in the US We each have a responsibility to make this horrific and all-too-common crime a lot less common. And our work with victims is the key that will open the door to real change—not just on behalf of the more than 44,000 survivors who have been identified in the past year, but also for the more than 20 million victims of trafficking who have not.
Because it is still a huge problem in the US, I am running my campaign until January 31. 2015. 50% of all sales for The Broken Series Books 1-4 will be donated to Polaris in the fight against Human Trafficking.
Please consider buying for yourself or for a friend and spread the word.
That’s right. Until January 31, 50% of all sales for The Broken Series (Books 1-4) will be donated to Polaris to fight human trafficking.
A little more about Polaris (from their website):
Modern slavery is a multi-billion dollar criminal industry that denies freedom to 20.9 million people around the world. And no matter where you live, chances are it’s happening right down the street. From the girl forced into prostitution at a truck stop, to the man discovered in a restaurant kitchen, stripped of his passport and held against his will.
Polaris, named after the North Star that guided slaves to freedom in the U.S., disrupts the conditions that allow human trafficking to thrive in our society. From working with government leaders to protect victims’ rights, to building partnerships with the world’s leading technology corporations, we spark long-term change that focuses communities on identifying, reporting and eliminating trafficking networks. Our comprehensive model puts victims at the center of all that we do — helping survivors restore their freedom, preventing more victims, and gathering the data to pursue traffickers wherever they operate.
So if you like erotic romance with some suspense and a serious side, here’s the chance to get some new reads AND do some good in the world.

And while you’re at it, learn a bit more about human trafficking. Share the word. Get the conversation going. Don’t wait for groups like the Boko Haram to stir the pot in order for us to get talking (#BringBackOurGirls).
